My day job pays the bills; my photography keeps me from needing a shrink.
I've always enjoyed the arts: music, drawing, the entire creative process; but I was frustrated by my lack of drawing skill. Early in college I discovered the joy that is photography; and shortly after Shannon and I were married, I fell in love with the lens. Shannon and I would visit the parks in and around Marathon County, and our little Kodak point-n-shoot was always in tow.
By using that Kodak, I learned many basics about photography; but it wasn't until I was contracted by Don Frisque that my skill as a photographer blossomed. His careful attention to detail, composition, and colors helped me hone my skill and talents. I owe him much; he taught me much more about photography then I could ever have taught him about OS X, Aperture or Photoshop.
My original love is nature photography, specifically sunsets and flowers, but since moving to Chicago, I've grown to enjoy architecture photography.
In May of 2007, I purchased a Nikon D50; and in February 2009, I upgraded to a Nikon D80. I slowly taught myself about long exposure, then aperture, and finally ISO; and with each concept learned, I watch my photos develop even more.
For post-production, I use Aperture for organization and almost all editing; I use Photoshop CS3 for any resizing of images. For my entire equipment listing, look in the lower-right on fourpointedstar.com
